The life of the Bonhomme party: 5 Questions with Kelsey Del Monico Lucas, Bonhomme Hospitality Group Events Director

A funny thing happened to Kelsey while working events as a side gig to her full-time job at a luxury magazine in L.A.: She ended up loving it. So much so she moved back home to Chicago to pursue a career in it. And we at Bonhomme, as well as the many guests whose parties she has planned at venues such as Beatnik On The River and Mama Delia to Celeste and Porto, are very glad she did…

WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT YOUR JOB?

I love that every day and every event is so different. We plan corporate dinners and happy hours, product launches, weddings and more. No two events or clients are the same. That helps keep it fresh, which I love and really appreciate.

MOST CHALLENGING?

For me? Delegating. I love working with people, but I have that mentality of “Oh, it’s ok, I’ll do it!”

WHAT WOULD SURPRISE PEOPLE ABOUT YOU?

I would do just about anything to spend a whole summer in Nantucket.

TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL EVENT?

Share your expectations and hopes for your event with your planner. We know a lot as event professionals, sure, but hearing it straight from our clients and guests ensures we’re making their top priorities our top priorities.

WHAT MAKES A BONHOMME EVENT SPECIAL?

Each Bonhomme property is so unique, but there is a core similarity across every property: the symbiosis of cuisine, beverage and decor. It’s such an incredible trifecta. So many events these days are customized to such a serious level — which I absolutely respect — but at Bonhomme, it isn’t necessary. Our teams have created such stunning spaces, and a beautiful cuisine and beverage menu to go along with it, I think that’s what’s so special about what we do here. We give our guests the opportunity to let us do the work for them. Of course, there are customizations that come along with every event, which adds that special and necessary “this is mine” quality.
